Warm Welcome – Kitchen & Bath Design News

Posted on 01/02/2026

The bathroom, especially the master bath, is a place where designers can help homeowners create the personal refuge they crave. With the right sinks and faucets, designers can add a personal touch without hijacking the overall design of the space. A range of materials and finishes tailored to individual tastes helps them create just the right combination for each homeowner.

“In general, homeowners want to showcase their personal style throughout every aspect of their home, which means bath products that are customizable will be trending in 2023 and likely into the future,” says Justin Storm, group product manager for House of Rohl based in Irvine, CA. “Overall design trends pave the way for sink and faucet trends as homeowners look to create a cohesive bathroom environment that suits their personal style.”

“With wellness being top-of-mind, we are still seeing a desire for creating an oasis in the bathroom – a place to escape the daily grind,” reports Mandy Ellington, director, Brizo brand management at Brizo Kitchen and Bath in Indianapolis, IN. “People are willing to take more risks when it comes to design choices, while simultaneously and intentionally creating a uniquely crafted bathroom experience.”

The Best Small Bathroom Paint Colors

Posted on 27/01/2026

While functionality is the most important feature of any bathroom, with the right design elements, you can transform this room into a calming oasis. But if you’re working with limited square footage, your bathroom may feel cramped rather than relaxing. One way to make this space feel bigger is by choosing the right hue for your walls. Ahead, we’re sharing paint colors that experts say can make small bathrooms feel bigger.

Light Grey

If you’re worried about gray feeling too cold, don’t be—it can actually be a very warm and inviting hue when thoughtfully chosen. Opt for a light grey, as it’s neutral enough to create the illusion of light, which can make small bathrooms feel bigger, says Meg Piercy, the founder and owner of MegMade.

Blush Pink

Since the bathroom is such a small part of your home, it gives you the opportunity to get creative with color. If you want a subtle shade that’s far from boring, opt for blush pink. This colorful neutral is so versatile that you can pair it with essentially any other color, as you would with a true neutral, says Kathryn Emery, home improvement and lifestyle expert.

21 Walk-In Shower Ideas For Any Size Bathroom

Posted on 21/01/2026

A tub can be a gorgeous focal point in the bathroom, but a walk-in shower is a true showstopper. For bathrooms large and small, a tub-free shower is a great alternative to make a big impression. According to designers, this stand-alone option delivers powerful style and function.

“A walk-in shower can provide functional elements over a tub shower, such as dual shower heads for busy couples getting ready in the morning, enhanced safety, additional space for a larger niche or two to store shampoos and soaps, etc, and a bench seat,” says designer Susan Sutter. “Walk-in showers also provide more beauty and style than a tub shower with opportunities to use fun tile pairings on the shower floor, niche accent, and wall tile.”

COOPERSBURG, PA — A vast majority of US homeowners say that quality lighting is important to the design of their home, with most reporting that lighting “is one of their most important design choices,” according to a Harris Poll survey conducted on behalf of Lutron Electronics, a major supplier of lighting, control and automated shading solutions.

According to Lutron, the first-of-its-kind poll “signals the growing demand for modern, high-quality lighting solutions” that supports the role of lighting in everything from wellness and sleep routines, to creating ambiance, connecting to nature, incorporating sustainable design elements, and informing homebuying priorities.

“Light is a fundamental element in the design of a space,” said Cecilia Ramos, senior director for the Coopersburg, PA-based Lutron. “Light brings atmosphere and can enhance not only the aesthetic of a home but how we look, feel and live within it.”

According to Lutron, about three quarters of surveyed US homeowners (74%) said they would not purchase a new home without “good natural light” even if the home checked the other boxes on their search.

“One of the most organic ways to support connection to nature within the home is through natural light – both sunlight as well as

Bathroom Business: OSHA’s Restroom Rules

Posted on 12/01/2026

Do you have enough toilets in your workplace? What condition are they in? Are your bathroom break policies too restrictive?

It’s important to know, because the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulates the availability of and workers’ access to restroom facilities.

OSHA’s sanitation standard “is intended to ensure that employers provide employees with sanitary and available toilet facilities, so that employees will not suffer the adverse health effects that could result if toilets are not available when employees need them.” These rules ensure that all workplace bathrooms remain safe, sanitary and easily accessible. Here’s a quick rundown:

Availability

Toilet facilities must be available at every work site, with mobile worksites being the exception. Employees in mobile work crews must have transportation readily available to toilet facilities “nearby,” however, and agricultural workers must have toilet and hand-washing facilities within a quarter-mile of the work site.

Employees must have reasonable access to a bathroom facility. According to an April 6, 1998, OSHA memorandum, the standard mandates that “employers allow employees prompt access to bathroom facilities,” and that “restrictions on access must be reasonable, and may not cause extended delays.” Employers should also carefully consider restrictions for employees with certain medical

#GetReadyWithMe – how social media came to our bathroom cabinets | Beauty

Posted on 05/01/2026

It used to be that if you wanted to know what strangers kept in their bathroom cabinets, you were limited to sneaking a peek during a party. Now, on social media (mostly) young women do their makeup in front of a live audience and celebrities describe their daily routines. The Vogue video interview series In The Bag sees stars dig around their bags to show off their favorite lipstick.

The scale of appetite for this low-level voyeurism is illustrated by the billions of views the #GetReadyWithMe hashtag has generated on TikTok, where online content creators broadcast themselves doing their hair or makeup – #skincareroutine alone has an astonishing 55bn views.

It all arguably began fifteen years ago, with the frank admission of nosiness that was the interview series The Top Shelf – with its polished photography, revealing personal details and tips – wherein a model, stylist or other industry insider talks through the contents of their bathroom cabinet. It was part of the Into The Gloss blog, which was the first venture of the Glossier beauty brand founder and original “girlboss” Emily Weiss, who is now the subject of a new book, Glossy: Ambition, Beauty and the Inside Story
